Update #010
I always write about wonderwall in here, did I bring Oasis back?

Yes, you heard it right, New York city's masses descended on SVA's building when they heard they'd have the opportunity to draw what they imagined my penis looks like and what I will say is all in - everyone was very generous. I had a few biological anomalies of course, but who is to say that that is not accurate.
Thank you so much for anyone who saw it in person, I am hoping I will have the ability to catalogue it digitally, there was a few pieces I ended up getting ready and all in all I had a very good time on the residency and think the work ended up very good.

I also got to make a very mini petanque pitch for the open studios too, part of an ongoing exploration into public spaces in private spaces, hopefully I will have another iteration on that very shortly.

I had to buy gravel
It definitely also gave me a lot to think about as me as an 'artist', which is something I want to of course keep moving towards. I got a lot of inspiration and things to check out, so wanted to put out some of the best down here

![]() | The Yes Men Wow I can't believe I haven't heard of these before, unbelievable art projects with purpose. A great reference for me that the delivery can somewhat be tongue in cheek but can of course be for a good reason. I watched one of their documentaries here, its sort of work born from the naivety of the internet and is really incredulous what ends up happening |
![]() | Jeremy Deller British Artist Jeremy Deller - I wouldn't usually qualify with the 'British' part, but while I was in NY I felt weirdly British, like a lot of my opinions didn't conform to the opinions of Americans, fundamental differences in being, Jeremy Deller has really beautiful work that seems to sometimes just ponder the idea of British Identity (which is very confused) Below is a video that really made me think he was an interesting artist, titled "Can Art change the world?" |
![]() | Fluxus This was a movement/group of artists that I had not heard of before, but of course had heard of some of its members, but their overarching outlook and philosophy is so deeply geared to a similar feeling of what I want my work to be, its really good. I've literally linked the wikipedia page |
![]() | Hugh Hayden This was likely the best gallery exhibition I saw while in New York this summer - the work was beautiful and it stood out so much just because of how boring the other galleries were. The installation dressing of the work being in cubicles is amazing as well |
![]() | Richard Serra I got told about this installation Richard Serra did, called 'Tilted Arc' and it was essentially a bit of metal in a plaza. What it did however was completely obstruct the quickest through the plaza, on which the other side were offices for workers. Of course, kind of an asshole move, but I read it that that is the point, it adds 30 seconds to a person's journey, but an inordinate amount of anger. It forces you into the moment. The worker's wanted it removed immediately, I found the whole thing fascinating |
![]() | DIA Beacon Sadly this is not me saying I went, its actually me saying that it evaded me once more. I was so engrossed in working that I didn't take too much time, but I will go here one day, it looks so beautiful and it looks like it fosters much of the work that I really admire. |
