Update #005

Its probably a bit late to wish you happy new year now. Anyway, heres wonderwall

Happy new year to everyone (this is a giveaway of how long I draft these for until they're 'worth' sending). Another year and if you've spoken to me at all around new year, you will know I am a big advocate for the arbitrary day when people know how to fix their life. I like it, no sarcasm.

So what I will say to that is, maybe its feeling inspired, but theres some GOLD in this this email's link section at the bottom this time, definitely check them out. (Really really do, if you like interesting art installations).

Other than that, how are you? I'll presume alright. Glad to hear it. Me? Oh yeah I'm fine, thanks for asking

Brute Force QR code

Is life too fast for you? Ever need to zone out and try and watch a computer randomly stumble upon a QR code. Hooo well do I have the link for you.Streaming every day between 10am and 4pm (GMT) you can watch my little device semi-randomly arrange a QR code and then scan it to see if its anything. Its like waiting for the DVD logo to hit the corner x1000. Head to my twitch page

POWER CHORD ZINE

I had this fun idea for a paper craft thing, to help people learn power chords and ultimately get them realising how easy it is to play along to songs on a guitar (and how fun it is!).Made a first test of it, the POWER CHORD HAND 🤘 watch the video of it hereI'm going to include songs to play along to in the zine too, ANY MUSIC PEOPLE what kind of songs do you think are good chord led songs to play to? Kinda 'Wonderwall' level.

Johnny Trash

Speaking of Zines, I did another one. Very exclusive news print zine I made from my time in New York. I was inspired, and this is what came out of it.Also, I did a small 8-bit cover of Johnny Cash (covering NiN), which you can listen to here -  johnnytrash.jthaw.club

I have a couple left if anyone wants one, I can try work out how to give you it.

Cool links/things

  • Gelitin – Normally, Proceeding and Unrestricted With Without Title When you have a title like that, you know its going to be art-y. Learned about this Art Collective Gelitin, absolutely jaw-dropping work, like this one where they installed a pool above the Hayward Gallery and 3 small boats for people to row in.

  • Simon Weckert – Google Maps Hacks Very fun project about confusing Google Maps. I don't want to needlessly spoil it, so click through to have a look.

  • Red Rocket – Film Trailer I love going to the cinema, so I've dropped a couple trailers in these emails in the past and thought why stop now. New film (old depending where you are) coming out in March in the UK, by Sean Baker, who did "Tangerine" and "The Florida Project" which are both amazing. A24 ofc.

  • GraffitiWriter - Institue for Applied Autonomy Sadly kind of hard to find hard links for this project anymore, but I was going back over Troika's "Digital by Design" (well worth an investment for anyone who likes similar art to me) and this little RC car that can graffiti words behind it, is such an amazing project.
