Update #004

Bloody Christmas again ain't it, wowzas, great stuff. Anyway heres wonderwall

The year is 2053, Christmas time, everyone is arguing that 'Marvel's Die Hard' (every film is a Marvel film now) is definitely a Christmas film, while the kids unwrap their presents to find out which Covid variant they got this year for Christmas.

"Oh wow, Omicron, super retro! Thanks Parents"

As we jump into the metaverse to see a still youthful looking Mariah Carey (although clearly on life support) deliver her annual Christmas speech, before consuming our lovely Huel Christmas Dinner, we are reminded that things could've been worse in 2021.

Merry Christmas everyone!

Last Years Singles

My last big personal project of the year, lastyears.singles is a bigger twist on a previous site I made to listen interactively to the Pitchfork top 100 songs.Use it to listen to all of the top music site's Top X songs lists, all on the site and connect with Spotify for a super experience!

Jon Burgerman

A site I worked on for a bunch of 2021 is finally out there, I was really happy to be able to do the site for Jon Burgerman, Illustrator extraordinaire. Also it was a site that I developed and designed, and I'm really happy with how it came out! jonburgerman.com

Watch Better Films

I have mentioned this project before (oh no have I run out of content?) but I did a bit of an update on this film recommendation project! It now shows you scores of the films from Rotten Tomatoes and the UI got a small overhaul based on feedback from Reddit. films.jthaw.club

Cool links/things

  • Mic.com Always impressed to see when big sites have big designs to them. I've never heard of MIC before, but maybe they're huge and I'm sure out of touch, but I'm crazy impressed with the site design for a big editorial site like this. Great art direction!

  • The Flemish Scrollers I went to KIKK festival in Belgium recently and would 100% recommend it to anyone. There was a lot of interesting people, but I loved the talk by 'Dries Depoorter', he did a lot with open webcams around the world, and instagram followers etc. Really great. "The Flemish Scrollers" detects when Belgian politicians are looking at their phones, and tweets at them telling them to get off their phone. Amazing.

  • Licorice Pizza This is a weird link out because I haven't seen it yet, but I am just so excited about this film, it looks perfectly like that kind of 'borrowed nostalgia' that I really like. I'll even over look the typo in 'Licorice'

  • View Code As ever, my projects 'Last Years Singles' and 'Watch Better Films' are just up for grabs to check out the code
